Breakfast is a very important part of dieting. Getting fuel for the day will provide energy and will raise the metabolism allowing the body to begin burning fat. What you start your day off eating is the key. Sitting down to a large stack of pancakes and eggs with sausage on the side will defeat the purpose of your weight loss plan.

Try grains and toasted breads. Eat a Whole wheat bagel and a light topping like honey. Oatmeal, or a bran cereal will give you fuel and won't have too many calories. It is important to avoid eating your breakfast at a fats (fast) food place. Unless you are getting a salad for your morning meal you will be doing your diet program a disservice.

If you are one of those people that just cannot eat in the morning then have some tea or coffee. This will curb the appetite and stimulate the body to raise the metabological rate and start the fat burning process. Many people think that by skipping breakfast in the morning will be better because they are taking in less calories. However, you will be more prone to snacking on fat heavy foods later in the morning and then eating lunch as well.

Some other breakfast suggestions include yogurt(low-fat), fruit, and if you must have eggs, soft boil them. Drinking juice in the morning is better than milk and a breakfast shake with low-fat ingredients is better than not having anything at all. Avoiding breakfast while on a diet will just make you sluggish and force your body to store fat and not burn it as ready energy. This is because eating will rev up the bodys metabolism and the body will then use the fat as the fuel.

If you have juice in the morning try to avoid the ones heavy with sugar such as apple and pineapple. Always buy 2% milk or soy milk. These little choices make a big difference in calories. Toppings like honey or marmalade are less fatty than maple or manufactured syrup and will help to lower you cholesterol.

An important part of a healthy diet is a healthy breakfast. It can be the difference between success and failure in your diet.
